How will you be marking my property corners and/or property lines?

In Connecticut, when a surveyor is required to set a property corner according to State Statute, the monumentation (i.e. corner or marker) must be one of the following:

  • Disks or plugs made of durable material set in ledge or concrete marked with a hole or cross.
  • Monuments 4” square by 30” long (minimum) of stone or concrete marked with a hole or cross.
  • Drill holes ⅜” diameter by ½” deep (minimum)
  • Metal rods ½” outer diameter (minimum) or metal pipes ½” inner diameter (minimum) having a sufficient length to be deemed permanent (typically 30” minimum).
  • Nails, spikes, or other materials that are sufficient in size and are set in pavement, concrete, or rock in a manner so as to be deemed permanent.

In addition to the above list, other features such as existing trees, existing fence posts, and even building corners can be used to represent property corners.
